My Mindfulness Story
It's been over ten years since mindfulness first found its way into my life. Here's how the journey began, and where it led me.
For a long time, I was good at keeping going.
Showing up, holding it all together, looking after everyone around me. From the outside, everything looked fine. And for a while, I told myself it was.
But quietly, underneath all of that busyness of doing and carrying on, I had started to lose myself. Not in a dramatic, hysterical way, I was slowly disappearing, becoming invisible to both myself and those around me. It was a slow and gradual fading, in the way that happens when you spend so long putting everyone else first that you forget to check in with yourself at all.
It took me a while to notice. And a little longer to admit it.
What changed everything for me, was mindfulness…
Mindfulness gave me something I hadn't had in years. Stillness. Space. The ability to actually hear myself again.
Those small moments of quiet began to shift something. I started noticing what my body had been trying to tell me for a long time. I started responding to life instead of just reacting to it.
Later, I discovered E.F.T (Emotional Freedom Technique) / tapping, and that's when things went even deeper. I began to understand how much we hold in the nervous system. How emotional overwhelm, stress and years of pushing through can become stored in the body in ways that thinking alone can never fully reach.
When my nervous system finally began to settle, everything changed. I breathed differently. Responded differently. Felt differently.
And slowly, I found my way back to myself, underneath everything I had been carrying for so long.
That journey is the reason I do this work. Not from a textbook, but from real experience. Because I know what it feels like to be lost in the busyness of your own life, and I know what it feels like to find your way back.
